simple poll: 17x7.5 or 17x8?

I was looking into some 17 inch rims, but 17x7.5 or 17.8? 38mm offset

Planning on running 235/45 series tires.

Also thinking about 18x8.5 in 40mm offset with 245/40 tires, but i'm leaning towards the 17's for lightweight performance

Get 17x8 and 235/40/18 tires. Take my advice or slammed95's, which would most likely be the same.

Sorry, I was under the impression you were getting 18" wheels.

So yeah, 17x8 with 235/45/17 or 18x8.5 with 245/40/18

For performance, definitely get 17" wheels.

If there's no other difference and this fitment isn't super-tight, get 8" width instead of 7.5" because wider wheels will help handling a tad.

I hate aftermarket 17"s on 5th gens. The stock 17"s are very good looking wheels.....heavy, but good looking. I think aftermarket 18"s are the way to go.

18's if you have a choice. Mine clear the new BBk with lot of space left over - but Volk's are made with just that in mind.

How about 17x8.5's with 245/45's. That's what i'll be using on the front soon.
PM sent andy.

Asu: i know what your saying about aftermarket 17's on the 5th gen. The tire portion looks .... fat on the car.

I wonder if there is a huge difference in performance with the extra rotational weight of a 18" that weighs 18lbs. compared to a 17 that weights 14 lbs.

Larry, those wheels come in 17", if they're the ones we've been talking about for a while. Let me know what you need in CF.
hmm.. hard to say. CF won't dramatically reduce my car other than the hood and trunk. Might have to get rid of the leather heated seats and go with the corbeaus
